can't connect to database

Postby Justus » Mon Jun 28, 2010 3:03 pm

Hi,

I'm using PT3 since 2 years.

Now the following happens: when i'm starting PT i can't connect to a database.
"Error conecting to default database."

It's not possible to choose a database, when i try to create a new one the following appears:
"Unable to create PostGreSQL database ...
Unable to login to database (template1)
Reason: Server closed the connection unexpectedly...

In the right corner it shows : PostgreQL v0.0.0

Any ideas how to start it again?

That tends to mean PostgreSQL has been uninstalled - do you still have PostgreSQL installed on your system?

yes, PostgreSQL 8.3 is installed.

My PC crushed a few weeks ago, i'm using a new mainboard and a new HDD now, but we could recover and transfer the dates and PT3 was running as before. The databases could be used. Since a few days i'm receiving this message.

Try uninstalling PostgreSQL and then reinstalling it per the guide on our documentation page, it sounds like the likely cause is the PostgreSQL installation not functioning properly.

Uncheck "Initialize Database Cluster" and then the installation will complete and use your old data directory.

Sorry, my fault  that i haven't seen the hint in the installation guide.

Installation finished and i can open PT3 now without errors.
Have to play a few hands the next time to test if everything is fine again.

Thanks for your help, kraada
