PT3 installing postgreSQL

Postby kingriver321 » Tue Aug 03, 2010 4:34 pm

I am having trouble installing postgreSQL myself, but I just remembered that the last time I installed it PT3 installed it for me. However, I only see two PT3 versions but neither one installs postgresql for me. Do I have to do it manually now?

OK i started installing it but couldnt get passed the part where it needed a password. I put in the dbpass and then reconfirmed the password but it didnt work. Should I uncheck the part where it says install as a service???

PostgreSQL needs to be installed as a service. Try svcPASS83 or postgrespass for that password - if those don't work click Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Right click Command Prompt and click Run as Administrator. At the prompt that appears type "net user postgres /delete" (without the quotes) and hit enter. It should say the command completed successfully, then you'll be able to set a new password during the reinstallation of PostgreSQL.

When I got to the initialize database cluster and hit next a window popped up that said "Secondary Logon" service is not running. THis service is required for the installer to initialize the database. Please start this service and try again. What do I do now?

Click Start, type services.msc and hit enter. At the box that comes up, find the Secondary Logon service on the box on the right, right click it and click Properties. Change it from Manual to Automatic (in the drop down box) and click the Start button.

Then re-run the installer and it should complete for you.
