large database / archived hands

i know purging the hands deletes them from the database, etc. however, what about deleting the archived hands? after the hands are imported, does PT3 still use the hand from the archived hand history or does it create it's own version.

i'm just wondering if i can delete some of the archived hands to free up disk space.

i use window vista, fyi.

any help is appreciated.

PT3 does not use the hand history files once the hands themselves have been imported. However, it is recommended that you zip them up and store them somewhere safe, rather than deleting them, just in case you ever need to rebuild your database.
