cant load database

I receive thus message whenever i attempt to run PT:

Unable to create PostgreSQL database: PT3_2011_02_14_000703
Reason: Unable to login to database (template1). Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "???" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432

any advice?

Click Start (on Windows XP click Run), type services.msc and hit enter. Locate the PostgreSQL entry from the list - is the service started? If not, can you start it?

hi, the service is not running, when i run it it starts then stops, giving a message about unused services stopping themselves!

Then please check to make certain that your firewall or anti-virus is not blocking PostgreSQL - that is the most common cause for that kind of error.

I am getting the same error as above. it all started when i could not update the windows Live essential's update and I had to run resetvista.cmd to get update to load after that i recieve error "unable to create postgres database"Pt3_2011_02_24_143313 Reason: unable to log on to database(template 1).Reason :could not connect to server:connection refused(0x0000274D/10061)Is the server running on host "???"and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432."
I have my databases backup on another drive. I tried uninstalling all and re installing postgres and pokertracker from scratch and this did not solve issue. what else can I try
running windows vista home prem.
Macafee anti virus and firewall all configured with full access and it still dont work.
Postgres not in Task manager so tried to start server and got this message
system error 1069 has occurred
THE SERVICE DID NOT START DUE TO LOGON FAILURE.

a windows update this week caused this on mine, it removed PT from the firewall allowed list.......2nd time its done this to me this year.......i just readded it and it works fine again.

That kind of error does normally indicate a permissions issue, often related to a firewall. Please do check that you still have everything configured as described in the Firewall Guide.
