lost database?

Postby nitt10000 » Sun Mar 06, 2011 5:55 pm

Hi,

Opened PT3 today and it was a little glitchy: I got a register message, put in my code, it was rejected, closed and opened again, same, then it started but I got a PostgreSQL message that wanted a password: I tried to cancel this but PT wouldn't open without it. I decided to update to V3.09.5, from V3.09, and opened it again, and got the PostgreSQL thing again. I found a password from the previous set up, put it in, clicked configure, since I seemed to be able to do nothing else, and PT3 finally opened.

But none of my data (3+ years worth) was available, and the only database that appears in the database management tab, or the set active database tab, is called "Poker Tracker 3 Database." and it is empty. I think my old database had a date on it, and hopefully it is still in the machine somewhere.

I am pretty ignorant about databases (I hardly know what a postgresqul is)and so don't know where to start to try to troubleshoot.

I did play a few small tourneys at stars and the data did go into the new database, and appears in Pokertracker, but this is all the info that is there. If I do have to start over from scratch it is not a horrible chrises, but if I could restore all the old data I would appreciate it.

Anyway, thanks

You can reconnect to your databases using Database Management > New > Browse to Existing Database.

It is a good idea to make regular Backups as you would for any important documents.
