Is there any way to move a DB?

Postby bdadavies » Thu May 19, 2011 1:54 pm

Im moving up limits which means that most of whats in my DB I wont need.

I dont want to get rid of it just yet because I may well end up dropping back down.

My primary drive is a SSD and my DB is on that. Currently Its using about 40GB.

Id like to be able to move my current DB to my sata HD (to free up space) and start a new one on my SSD.

Is this possible and if so how?

Best wishes.

The easiest thing to do would be to take a backup of the database via our Backup and Restore functionality, then delete it until you need it again (and restore it at that time). Moving the database is possible but complicated as you need to set up a separate tablespace.

Thanks, that sounds like a reasonable solution.
