postgreSql升级问题

我此前电脑里安装的是postgreSql8.3版本，我把它卸载了，现在重新安装postgreSql8.4版本的，这样升级是可行的吗?如果不可以？那么如何操作才能完成这样的升级呢？比如卸载postgreSql8.3版本，格式化C盘，重新安装操作系统后，再安装postgreSql8.4版本可以吗？期待回复！谢谢！

Please keep your issue in one thread - if you post in more threads it is hard to follow because we can't see previous questions and answers.
It will be much easier to fix things in 8.3 unless you want to start with a clean database. Please tell us exactly what problem you are having so that we can suggest the best solution.
