password authentication failed for user "postgres"

Postby Lirril » Fri May 02, 2008 8:56 am

After performing a new beta 10 install, I get the following error for each hand which PT tries to import:
Unable to begin feeder import process. Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3 Alpha DB1). Reason: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "postgres"

I did the standard install *except* I had to change the Postgres password as the default password doesn't allow the user to be created on my machine as the password doesn't meet the security policy requirements (I set the password to a more secure one when I tried the install again using the form that pops up during the install). I also tried resetting the password myself manually in Windows as the install failed the first time (user password wasn't complex enough), so I thought the PT3 installer mightn't have created the user correctly the 2nd install, but it didnt seem to make a difference

Not sure what the problem stems from, but the solution was to create a new database, set it as active, and then restart the import.
