Hi,

Im currently using PostgreSQL 8.3, can I install the 9.1.3 version? Is PT3 fully compatible with this one?

Thanks

PostgreSQL 9.1 is still pretty new and we do not yet support it as we can't be sure there aren't problems with it.
We currently recommend 9.0 if you wish to upgrade.

Please note that your existing databases will not work in a different major version without backup/restore, or you could re-import to the new database of course. You need to make a backup in the current PostgreSQL version and then restore after you've installed the new version.
If you install the new version using a different port number (e.g. 5490 for 9.0) then you can run both services alongside each other until you're sure you have everything working correctly.

Just want to be sure. Is 9.1 version still not recommended?
Any 9.0 versions (for example, 9.0.7) are "ok". Am I right?

Correct - we'd currently recommend the latest 9.0 version.

FWIW, I have been using 9.1 since my PC crashed late last year and I had to restart everything, including my PT3.

No known problems.

But, while trying to bring up PT4, it refuses to find my existing postgres (9.1). Is the current PT4 program blocking 9.1? Will I need to dl 9.0 to get PT4 running?

Nevermind, found I had changed my pw in the dbass....found that in another thread.

We're not blocking it in any way - you should be able to connect to it just fine.

OK, while I am going thru the setup of PT4 and it importing my existing PT3 hands, perhaps you can suggest what I might record over the next few months that will help you get to a point where you are supporting the latest postgres.

I'll ask our developers what might be useful here and get back to you.
