PT4 - unable to connect - tried everything?

Postby tboblp » Fri Aug 10, 2012 12:54 pm

Have never had PT installed on this computer. Had PSQL previously installed, wiped it off and reinstalled 8.4. Running XP.

when trying to open PT4, "Configure PostgreSQL Server" comes up. username postgres, pw dbpass.

Error is "unable to connect to this database. please check the configuration."

I have followed the steps for Norton to allow permission, i have tried editing the pg_hba file as told on this site, i have rebooted several times...etc.

basically i have tried everything i can readily find on this site to fix this but nothing happens. this is a trial version of PT4, but i am looking to potentially move from HEM2 to PT4 and purchase a full version and this is getting in my way. Thank you for any help!

Click Start -> Run and type in services.msc and hit enter. In the window that appears do you see PostgreSQL listed? Is the service running?

That means that PostgreSQL is running - more likely then the inability to connect is related to a bad password. Try these alternate passwords:

postgrespass

svcPASS83

one of them might get things working for you.
