When you moved it to the external harddrive, did you uninstall as well?

I didnt do anything to PT2 or SQL 8.2. I left them untouched since I want to continue to use PT2 for a little while. I also want to use PT3 as well. I have little room left on my main HD (under 5 gigs) and want to import 5 million hands into PT3. So all my PT3 imports have to go onto the external drive.
You will need to uninstall postgresql for it to work from the external hard drive, otherwise, you can't see the server on your external hard drive.
Do you mean uninstall 8.2 from main HD? i didn't want to do that but I guess I have to?
Also, you might want to install PT3 on your local hard drive as it takes up minimal room (60 megs or so), and the main chunk of what will take up hard drive space is the postgresql server.
I will do that
Also, you cannot just take the hard drive w/you, and use it on someone else's computer and have PT3 work. PT3 stores information to the local hard drive it is on in the system registry when its installed. If you use it on another computer, that data will not be available for it and it will not run properly.
I will not be doing that
Just make sure that postgresql is completely uninstalled FIRST before you try to install to the external hard drive. If you are still having a problem please post back here and I will help you more.
Well I guess since I cant run SQL on seperate drives, can you instruct me how to move existing SQL (approx 60 gigs) to external HD and make it so it will work with PT2 and PT3 , if this is even possible.
Thanks,
Chuck
