PostgreSQL problem

Postby johnyphx » Tue Feb 25, 2014 9:56 am

Yesterday while I was grinding a message appeared from AVG(an antivirus programm i have) that postgreSQL file might be dangerous or broken dk exactly and then PT4 crushed and I closed it. When I tried to open it again that message appeared https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/36/j0h6.jpg

I choose "Configure Defaults" and then this comes https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/835/cuul.jpg

With choosing Connect this comes https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/809/b9aw.jpg

By choosing cancel this comes https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/27/y3my.jpg

After trying to access to PT4 this comes up https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1001x750q90/534/dlst.jpg

Please someone guide me to fix this thing, cause Im in a middle of a challenge and got to grind everyday.
Thank you very much.
PS: that was the only postgreSQL thread I found , Im using PT4 not PT3

Click Start type services.msc and click on it when it appears. Do you see PostgreSQL in the list? If so, can you start it?

I saw a very similar problem in the forum and there are plenty of errors like this and most of them at the same time https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/998x561q90/691/rz3p.jpg

Expand the Windows Logs section in Event viewer and click on Applications. The errors in there should be slightly different -- can you show me what it says there?

That's not the section I referred to. In the left hand pane you need to expand Windows Logs and click on Application. That section shouldn't list errors thrown because of duplicate key violation.

That error is different - it's saying it can't find necessary elements of your database in C:\PostgreSQL\Data folder -- check your anti-virus and recycle bin and if there were any files from the postgres folder you will need to restore them.
