error message on xp

error message on xp

im running on xp and tried to install pt3 and that went ok but then it says i need postgresql. so i try to install it but eventually i get an error message that says
"failed to run initdba1!"
"please see the logfile in c/programs"
"rolling back programs"
theres nothing in my c programs or anywhere else that would conflick and im running on xp. thanks

The easiest way on XP is just to download PT3 WITH postgres and let it do the default installation.
If you have a partial install of postgres that is causing problems, see this topic
about how to completely uninstall postgres before installing PT3 with postgres.

ive removed all pt files and have tried to download different versions of pt(including the versions WITH dba included) and everytime i try to bring up pt afterinstallation it tells me i still need the dba(again i download the versions with dba included) and then get those errors message

Sounds like you may have a problem with your postgres install.
I guess you don't have any postgres databases yet? so there's no problem with removing postgres and re-installing?

See this post: Total uninstall/reinstall of pt3.
Since you are on XP, once you've fully uninstalled, you can just use the PT3 with postgres installer again, or you can follow the full instructions if you prefer.
