Postgres taking up 44GB's on hard drive space...normal?

I've been looking into my system as it hasn't been performing as well as it should lately. I've noticed the hard drive space is getting full and 44Gb's of it is taken up by my Postgres folder in Program Files. Is this a normal size? My DB isn't abnormally large so this is a bit larger then I would expect.

Is the Postgres folder normally this large?

How many hands do you have in your database?
That doesn't sound unreasonable.

Not sure how many hands, but if that sounds reasnable I'll have to live with it. I just don't have that much hard drive space on my laptop so I'll need to figure something out.

Yes, you need to make sure you have plenty of free space - if postgres doesn't have enough space to do what it needs to do with the files it will run slower (especially doing stuff like the housekeeping operations).

I only have about another 25GB of free space on my hard drive. I assume this Postgres SQL folder in my program files will only grow as my DB gets larger.

I guess I'll need to get some of the other things taking up space on my system backed up to an external hard drive and delete from my laptop to free up some space.

Yes, you definitely need to keep as much free space as possible.
