PostgreSQL 8.2 - which db's are needed?

Postby raster846 » Sat Jun 13, 2009 8:19 pm

My friend is running PT3 with PostgreSQL 8.2 and when we downloaded PT3 27, it didn't find the existing PT3 db. So we created a new PT3 database, which is working OK. I cannot see the old PT3 db from inside PokerTracker database management, It does not show up in the list of db's. There is only the new PT3 db listed in PokerTracker3.

When I go into PGadmin, I can see the new PT3 db as well as the old PT3 db. There is also a db named PTPGSQL1 as well as the postgres db.
1. so is it OK to delete the old PT3 db from PGadmin?
2. What is the PTPGSQL1 db? Is it needed? Can I delete it from PGadmin?

Thanks

(1) Yes.

(2) That sounds like your PTv2 database; I think that's how they were named by default. You probably don't want to delete that until your database is transferred over :) One way you can transfer, if you don't have manually entered tournament summaries in PT2, is to just export all hands in PT2 (Utilities --> Export Hand History to File ... ) and then reimport then into PT3. That is, essentially, what the conversion tool does (the only extra thing is the conversion of manually imported tournament summaries).
