postgres service wont start

I'm giong to continue searching for solutions for this error.

Right click your C: drive and select Search.
Type in postmaster.pid and click Search.
Delete everything that comes up and try again.

Yeah, i searched for it immediately. Interestingly enough, the search function cannot locate this file. Luckily for my, my PT2 has stopped working as well. I've never had any problems with it before. I've come to really love Windows Vista. Nary a problem in the world...

search again - make sure you look in system files and hidden folders...

also, post up the command line in your service start for postgres that attempts to get the postmaster going...

Did you manually install PostgreSQL? It sounds like it did not install properly and is looking for your database in the default ConfigDir whereas it should be located in your /PostgreSQl/<version>/data/base directory...

I used this to fix my problem. I went to Configuartion Files -> Edit postgresql.conf. Then, where it said ConfigDir in those three lines I replaced that with '/PostgreSQL/8.3/data/' I then selected Reload Configurations then Start Service from the PostgreSQL folder. Booted up PT3 and I was good to go. GL to you.
