postgreSQL disappeared

i did check all the steps in the link. pt3 seems to download normally. would you like me to install it again and copy and paste the details?

would that help any. after it says that installation is complete there is a button that says details. i can copy and paste them if it will help.

Just to clarify: You did download and install the version WITH PostgreSQL and even after that you don't see PostgreSQL in your start menu?

i realize you guys probably deal with a lot of idiots , but i am not one of them. i did download with postgerSQL. it still is not on my start menu. believe me when i say its nowhere to be found on my computer i have looked (everywhere). what would happen if i uninstall then and then reinstall? will i lose data if i do that?

Sorry, but we need to check these things, as you obviously realise... ;)

If there is no postgres on your computer, then there is no data to lose.
Do you have an uninstall option for postgres?

Yes, try it again and post the details..

There should be no need to uninstall PT3. This would not affect your postgres installation anyway..
If you want to re-install PT3 you can just install over the top of your existing version.

ok. i was able to download postgrSQL by opening up pt2 hitting the help tab. now when i try to run pt3 i get this message Unable to begin feeder import process. Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3_2008_05_17_004515). Reason: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "postgres"

what does this mean?

are you running as an administrator?

if you are under vista, have you turned uac off?
