I have been using pt3 for about a week and have decided to uninstall pt3 and start clean on pt2 for awhile. The pt3 uninstall never mentioned uninstalling PostgresSQL, and I find no simple way of uninstalling it since there are no uninstall procedures and it doesn't show up in the Add/Remove Programs area. I don't want to keep it, even if it will work with pt2, so how do I uninstall PostgreSQL 8.3?

Follow the first step of 2 of these directions:

When I uninstalled pt3, I saw no option for uninstalling PostgreSQL (I may have missed it), but now there is no option for uninstalling it in Add/remove programs. I see that there are quite a few registry entries for PostgreSQL. If I just delete the PostgreSQL folder/subfolders, the registry entries will still be there causing more unwanted system bloat and possible problems when I reinstall pt2?
An uninstall procedure (like what would execute from Add/Remove progams) would hopefully remove the registry entries, rather than me trying to find them and figure out what to with them manually. I have found uninstall procedures for a Unix/Linux box, but nothing for a Windows (XP) machine (which obviously has a registry).
The procedure you pointed me to simply has me deleting the folder/subfolders and User, but does nothing for the registry entries without the uninstall.
Knowing the above, what do you recommend?

I use XP too, and if I open Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, I have a postgres entry. If you don't have that, I suspect it probably wasn't installed properly in the first place.
You may get the add/remove option back by re-installing it, but I'm not sure.
I'll see if I can get you a better answer.

At this point, no need. I broke down and manually uninstalled. Deleted all files and folders then manually deleted all appropriate registry entries. Installed pt2 back without incident. Thanks for trying anyway....

My guess would be that's why you may have had trouble with PT3. PostgreSQL was never installed properly. There should have been an entry in your Add/Remove Programs list under your Windows Control panel. Since that was not there, I am going to venture to guess it never installed right.
