installing on a portable drive... Help?

Hey everyone,

I have two computers, one at home and one at work. I use both computers to play on Poker Stars. I don't have Poker stars installed on both computers, rather on a portable USB drive I carry around with me. I have Poker Tracker installed on this USB drive and made sure that PostgresSQL was also pointed towards my USB drive while installing it. My problem however is that Poker tracker only works on the computer where the drive was set up... so at work it cannot find the database. I'm assuming that though I pointed to the USB while installing it it sill uses drive C to store the database.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this issue? I'd like to be able to open Poker tracker on both computers using the one USB drive it's installed on.

Thanks in advance.

Al

You will need to install pokertracker on both actual computers - you can configure it to both share the databases on the portable drive, though.

Ok, If I install it on both computers, what do I need to do in order to have them share the database on the portable drive...

If you are using access databases it's pretty straightforward - just create the DB file there, or if you already have it then move it there.
If you need further help, please post in the PT2 section of the forum where you'll get better help.

Why should I go to PT2 forum? I have a registered version of PT3....

Also, I never heard of Access being used with PT3, I thought you could only use Postgress.... can you refer me to a link that will help me make the swtich? I read some posts on how to do this with Postgres. Everything worked fine till I got to this proceedure

"Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL 8.2 -> psql to template1"

I don't have "psql to template1" Just "psql to postgres" If I used it, it brought me to the console as expected but it wanted a password... dbpass did not work there so i could not continue with my little project....

Sorry - my mistake; I was dealing with another similar issue earlier which was about PT2.

Have a look at the Database / Postgres FAQ where there are some directions for networking DBs.
