unable to import

Postby akroma » Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:00 pm

It seems Im unable to import anything because of some problem with my SQL.

I keep getting this error: Unable to begin import process. Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3 DB). Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

And have no idea what it means. Can anyone help me?

That error means your PostgreSQL server is not currently running. Please check to make sure that your firewall or anti-virus software isn't preventing PostgreSQl from running or using port 5432 as it needs access to that port in order to run properly. You can then restart PostgreSQL by clicking Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> Start Services.

Hm I think the SQL database that was linked to PT got deleted/uninstalled. I normally use HM these days because my PT kept freezing up and such. I heard the updates fixed all this so I decided to give PT another try.

Can I just create a new SQL server/database? Or can i also sign in to the one i use for HM without causing any trouble?

PT3 and HEM use very different databases, so you won't be able to use your HEM database in PT3. You can create a new database in PT3 by clicking Database --> Database Management --> New.

If you're running Vista, though, you might want to see this post.

However, if your installation is damaged entirely, the easiest thing will be to uninstall and reinstall. See this guide for a walkthrough on how to uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL without losing your data.

This is what i get when i try to create a new DB:

Unable to create PostgreSQL database:
PT3_2008_12_23_230305
Reason: Unable to login to database (template1).
could not connect to server: Connection refused
(0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost"
and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 54320?

Do you have PT3 running as administrator? If you're running as Vista it needs to be running as Administrator (right click the desktop icon, check 'run as administrator').

You might also want to take a look at this post if you're running Vista and that doesn't fix it.

In that case I'd recommend reinstalling PostgreSQL as explained in this tutorial.

Will that cause trouble for my HM SQL? (HM still has priority as its proven itself to be very good)

is it an idea to just uninstal PT3 and reinstall it (with SQL)?
