Unable to login to database

Postby skynet » Tue Dec 23, 2008 2:07 pm

Hi, I'm getting this message(I recently had to start my comp in Recovery mode):

Unable to login to database (PT3 DB) Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061)
Is the sever running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

Thanks!

Are you running Windows Vista? If so, take a look at this post.

I'm running XP.
When my computer was rebooted in recovery mode it reinstalled Norton Security. I uninstalled the program then restarted comp, opened PT3, restarted postgre (didn't solve problem), stoped postgre as described in another post. I searched for the postmaster.pid and didn't come up with anything.

I'd recommend trying to reinstall PostgreSQL. If you follow this tutorial, you won't endanger your data in any way.

I'm using the tutorial but I have run into a problem.
In my attempt to uninstall PostgreSQL, the program doesn't appear in the Add or Remove Progams. So I went to "Run", typed "cmd" and was brought to the Administrator: Command Prompt. I entered "net user postgres /delete" and hit enter.
It responded, "the user name could not be found".

I ran a file search and the PostgreSQL database is still on my computer.

That means that the user is already deleted; you can continue as if that part had completed successfully.

After reinstalling PostgreSQL, I am unable to view any of my stats for my screen names.

Are you getting an error message or are your stats and players gone? If you're getting an error message, please paste the full error message here or enable logging and attach the log file to a Support Ticket.

If all your players and stats are gone, did you follow the tutorial step-by-step? Did you uncheck the "initialize database cluster" box during the installation of PostgreSQL? If you didn't, your database has been deleted. However, by default you'll have all the hand histories that you have imported with auto-import available in your C:/Program Files/PokerTracker 3/Processed folder and should therefore be able to easily reimport those into a new database.

There is no error message and I still have my players.

How exactly to I reimport the histories? I attempted to manually import but only imported 1583 files and 0 hands. I am not even importing new hands but my hud is working with no problems.
