Hi!

I´m having problem installing postgreSQL. Just reinstalled windows vista on my computer. Have never got this result before(on vista).
When I try to install postgreSQL I get this message "Service PostgreSQL Database Server 8.3(pqsql-8.3) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services" and I can choose Retry(same thing happens) or Cancel(rollback action)
I run as administrator. I have no antivirus installed. UAC is not active, windows firewall is not active. I do run IE 8(saw that maybe it could mess something up in another thread).

How can I solve this problem?

Fredrik

Hi again!

I cant follow "Reinstall postgress" tutorial completly due to the fact that it never gets installed. So I cant uninstall it from the controlpanel. But I have followed the other steps but with the same result.
What do I do now?

This error often occurs as a result of anti-virus, anti-spyware, or anti-spam software not allowing system services to be installed. Disable these programs and attempt to install again. These issues have been known to happen with IE 8 Beta 2, NOD 32, Norton Antivirus, F-Secure Antivirus, ZoneAlarm and Spampal. Once PostgreSQL has been successfully installed you may reactivate your third-party software.

Others have reported IE 8 causes issues; I've never used IE 8 personally so I can't say really why that might be a problem, but I'd recommend trying to uninstall it and see if that fixes things for you.

You could also try changing various options in the IE 8 configuration and see if you can change things there (with security zones or some such) that might interfere and get things working.
