I am trying to network between my laptop and my main computer, using the guide

This way I could store my datamined hands on the stationary and play on my laptop, but still using HUD with hands from the stationary.

q1:

Step B) simply add the line below to the bottom of your document:
host all all 192.168.1.0/24 md5
Save and exit.

Is this in the pg_hba.conf on my laptop or stationary?
same with "listen_addresses = '*'" in postgresql.conf, on the laptop or stationary?

q2:
I tested with ipconfig and find that my ip´s is:
laptop: 192.168.1.101
stationary: 192.168.1.100

I dont have any local area connection on the ipconfig (using a linksys router).

When I want to connect to the server (on stationary from my laptop) do I go into PT3 or pgAdmin?
If pgAdmin: Is it New server registation and what to fill in?
If PT3: Is it Configure PostgreSQL database, new and then what to fill in? I tryed with; Database PT3 DB, Server: 192.168.1.100, User: postgres, Port: 5432, Password dbpass and pushed "Browse Databases" but after a long time (10 min.) it said: Unable to login to database (template 1). Reasion: could not connect to server: Connection timed out (...). Is the server running on host "192.168.1.100" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432.

I hope there is a simple answer to this

I just made a ping test in the commando:

On my laptop: tested for 192.168.1.100 and 4 out of 4 was lost.
On the stationary: tested for 192.168.1.101 and then I recived all 4.

What is the problem so I cant ping the stationary from my laptop but I can the other way.

I made a little test by turning off the firewall and connected the computers by a "cross-cabel". Now I could find both computers by ping and on the stationary I could in PT3 get the databases on my laptop. Still I could not the other way around, get the databases from the stationary on my laptop. Is it in the configuration on my router I need to fix something and then open something up on my laptop?

I'll ask Prajna (who wrote the guide) to take a look at this thread.

The question here is what computer do you want the database to be on? If its the pc, then step B is for the pc. Also, you will probably want to disable the firewall on that computer when doing this so that the laptop can contact that computer, -OR- you need to allow port 5432 to be open on the PC so the laptop can contact the postgresql server there.
