Trouble installing when asked for password

When installing Postgresql and coming to the part that says: service configuration, I’m asked for a password and to verify the password. When I type in my own password or leave the boxes empty or type in dpass, I get a message that says – “Invalid username specified: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. ( I tried a password that had both letters and numbers and still I got this message)

I’m using windows vista and I unclicked the user account control. Also, when I try to remove PostgreSQL password, and click on PostgreSQL 8.3, there are no configuration files, it just says empty. I’ve also tried to install the PostgreSQL 8.2.7 as someone suggested and when I click on the American flag, it says – file can’t be found.

Also, I've tried this advice:

"Go Start->Programs->PostgreSQL->Configuration Files->Edit pg_hba.conf

At the bottom of the file there are two lines that end in 'md5'. Change the 'md5' to 'trust'. File->Save

Then go Start->Programs->PostgreSQL->Reload Configurations

Now, you are not required to enter a password and you should no longer receive the "Invalid Username specified: Logon Failure: unknown username or bad password." error.

Best regards,

Derek"

But when I go to Start then All Programs, there is no PostgreSQL, even though it spent a while downloading. i must be missing something simple here.

Thanks.

When I go into "programs and features", there is no PostgreSQL for me to select to uninstall. When I try to install, I get hung up when asked for a password.

oh, sorry, you asked me to reinstall, not uninstall. Let me try and get back to you. I just woke up and didn't read correctly

ok, I followed the instructions step by step and when I get to password, I have the same error message. When I then go to "start" and "all programs" to fix the problem, there is no postgreSQL to select from.

The password needs to contain at least one uppercase, one lowercase, one number, one symbol to be valid, but that guide should give you all the information you need.

If you still can't get it to install please schedule a remote assistance session where someone can logon to your computer with you and directly troubleshoot/resolve the issue.

I clicked on your link and tried to sign up, what did I do wrong? I got an email, but no response. I'm available any day after 8 pm or before 2pm pacific time. Meanwhile, do I use the same regestration code for poker tracker 2 and poker ace hud that I used for poker tracker 3?

What is your ticket number? I'm sure you'll get a response soon, if you didn't already.

There is a link in the email you got with your PT3 code explaining how to claim your PT2 and PAH codes.
