Windows 7/ 64-bit system postgresql installation

Hi, i've been browsing this forum all day for a standard solution of installing postgres onto a windows 7 RC 64-bit system but it just gets so confusing with all these different answers.

3 versions of postgres seems to be compatible with vista/W7:
8.2.7 (recommended in the stickied thread)
8.2.13 (latest version of 8.2.x)
8.3.7 (the lastest version of 8.3.x seems to have fixed the compatibility issues with vista/ 64-bit machines?)
and
8.4.beta (some say this works with windows7?)

Which one should someone with windows 7 RC 64-bit use????

Thanks for looking. Hopefully answer will be below if you're in the same boat as I.

I haven't tried Windows 7 64-bit, but I have installed PT3 beta 27 and postgres 8.4 on Windows7 and it works fine.
You can get postgres 8.4 from this link.

Thanks for your help. I got the installation done. For others in my situation, make sure you set your password to 'dbpass' when they ask you for it so PT3 can connect.

I now have another problem with the HUD and importing my old hands.
1. I cannot view my imported hands. I can see the amt won and loss for time and table, but i cannot see individual hands. Is there an FAQ for importing?
2. Even though the HUD is running (that PT icon on the table where you configure HUD stats), I cannot see individual player stats - They do not pop up.
3. I can getting this message in the log:

2009/05/21 17:35:37: Full Tilt: Loading hand history file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Full Tilt Poker\HandHistory\HELPMEHELPEME\FT20090521 Market Crest - $0.25-$0.50 - $15 Cap No Limit Hold'em.txt
2009/05/21 17:35:37: Full Tilt: Unable to import hand (#12353974174). Reason: Unable to execute query: COPY holdem_hand_player_statistics FROM STDIN;; Reason: Fatal Error (ERROR: invalid input syntax for integer: "f" CONTEXT: COPY holdem_hand_player_statistics, line 1, column cnt_players: "f" )

I am using PT3 Build 4 instead of beta 27 if that matters.

Thank you for your help!! I will try to post my problems as detailed as possible so that others with Windows 7 can use PT3 as well.

PS. Windows 7 is sexy.

It sounds like you're importing hands in Build 4 into a Beta 27 database. Try upgrading to Beta 27.1 and create a new clean database and use the manual import to reimport the hands you've previously imported (they'll be in C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\Processed) and see if that fixes things for you.

hi, i wannt to install postgres 8.4 (W7 64bit), but after installing it says:
"Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly. The database cluster initialisation failed"

whats the problem here? under viste i must deactivate UAC, but i cant find it on W7..

and i cant connect with pt3 then.

You still need to disable UAC in Win7, see this post for a walkthrough on how to accomplish it.

Try unchecking "Initialize Database Cluster" as explained in this tutorial (see page 16)
