Can't get demo version to work

Postby Another Shag » Thu Jul 02, 2009 8:33 pm

Spent two days and still no luck. Always postgres problems. I installed the full version, but the postgres 8.3 got hung up. I had to reboot, so it never fully installed, so now I can't uninstall it (it's not in the programs list). I then installed postgres 8.4. Now, postgres doesn't work, and pokertracker always hangs. How can I start from scratch without reformatting my HD?

Please see this post: How to reinstall Postgres.

Are you using Vista?
Make sure you have UAC disabled.

Ok, it's a problem with my SQL - the server is reporting:
"no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"

I have shut down my fsecure firewall, no luck. I have opened the port on my computer; still no luck. This is very frustrating...!

F-secure is one of the most notorious firewalls for dealing with PostgreSQL. You need to actually completely uninstall F-Secure in order for it to work 100%.

Tada! Thanks. It worked after I did a complete uninstall. Now in the process of exporting my HH's from v2 to import into v3...

The good news is that PT3 imports much, much faster than PTv2 did, as you should see shortly :)
