Acces to database

Postby BoFo » Mon Jul 20, 2009 6:53 am

Hej!

I had problems and decided to reinstall postgres. Followed the "How to reinstall Postgres" instructions three times (once version 8.4, then 8.3 twice). Now PT3 wont connect to Postgres, every time coming up with: "Unable to connect to database: PT3_2009_07_20_012542"

This identification is correct, same as shows in "database/database management" as default. I can find several running instances of postgres.exe in the task management.

Please...

Yours, Bo

If you are using the original data folder then you will need to have re-installed the same major version of postgres that you created the database with.
If you created the database in 8.3 and then installed 8.4 it won't be able to read the database. To upgrade between major versions (8.x to 8.y) you need to backup your database (in the old version) and restore it (in the new version).

Ah, right - then you'll need to create a new database and re-import your hand histories (should you want the previous hands).
Then you can Remove the old database from your PT3 configuration - currently PT3 still thinks it is supposed to be connecting to the old database, which it obviously can't find because it doesn't exist any more.
