if postgre stops during installation...

as it did for me, and then it kept on rejecting passwords and domain names, no matter what you do.....

then this works... :D
(per the other mike at poker tracker 3 support)

I think it would be best to follow my steps below to uninstall and reinstall both PokerTracker3 and PostgreSQL (I realize PostgreSQL is not installed but there are 'pieces' of it which must be removed before retrying). Mostly this is to get you running but also if you get stuck I'll know precisely where.

First, if you use Vista you will want to be sure to follow the steps in these (the first before installing and the second afterward):

Required disabling of Vista's UAC (steps 1 - 6 only)
Running Poker software as "Administrator" (see "ATTENTION: Windows VISTA users...")

And if you use Vista be sure to use the "Administrator" account to do the PostgreSQL and PokerTracker3 installs (or right-click on the installer icon, choose "Run As..." then pick an administrative account).

With Windows File Explorer go to "C:/Program Files" and copy the directory "PokerTracker 3" (right-mouse-button click on the "PokerTracker3" folder icon and select "Copy" then in an open area amongst the other folder icons right-mouse-button click again and choose "Paste").

Uninstall PokerTracker3 and be sure to choose "yes" to "remove configuration directory?" If you have a problem here with the directory being removed, reboot and with Windows File Explorer go to "C:/Program Files" and drag "PokerTracker 3" to the Recycle bin if it's there (do not delete the "Copy of Pokertracker 3" we just made).

Then carefully follow the steps here to uninstall PostgreSQL (specifically, removing "postgres" user and manually deleting the PostgreSQL directory): PostgreSQL Uninstall and Reinstall

Once you reach the "Installation" steps in the PDF, stop there and instead click and download this: http://www.pokertracker.com/products/PT ... .pgsql.exe

Double-click what you downloaded to install Pokertracker3 then afterward double-click the poker chip "PokerTracker3" icon and it will install PostgreSQL for you.

Let me know what happens. If you get stuck somewhere let me know where, what went wrong and any details or other observations such as warning or error messages (and precisely what they are).

Otherwise if you have things running now and are unfamiliar with PokerTracker3 I think you'll find these helpful:
