Weird Error

Postby nowicki22 » Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:34 pm

Hi, every time I have tried to start the PostgreSQL server or anything dealing with PostgreSQL in the command prompt I keep getting an error message saying "System Error 5 has occurred. Access is denied." How do I get around this problem? It worked fine until the other day when my computer had a breakdown and wouldn't turn on for a while. Now my PT3 wont load anything and tell's me PostreSQL isn't running.

It sounds like you may have some issues with your user account not having proper rights. Is this a Windows XP or Vista computer?

I have a Vista computer, I am the Administrator on the computer. When I downloaded PostgreSQL I downloaded the 8.4 version not the 8.3 (does that really matter though?). I don't know why it would just start doing that now.

Edit; I still get the same error on my laptop running Windows 7 but my FTP still loads PT3 and the HUD, just PS does not work.

** My PS started saving HH all of a sudden and even with this error I manage to be able to import HH to my database and have a running HUD. On my desktop, however, I cannot get permission to access an of my databases.

Do you have UAC enabled? If so, please try disabling per this tutorial and see if that helps.
