Hi all

Been trying to improve my computer performance and was wondering ...

Do i need Postgres.exe running all the time ?

Im not in any poker site and i seem to have 4 or 5 postgres.exe programs running .

Is this standard or is there an option to stop Postgres running untill i open up PT3 ?

Thanks in advance

Joss

You don't need to have the postgres service running if you are not using PT3, although those processes shouldn't be doing very much so won't really cause any problems.

You can change the postgres service so that it doesn't start up automatically when you start windows, then PT3 will start it when you run that.
Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and find PostgreSQL Database Server. Double click it and set the Startup type to Manual.
When you close PT3 it won't stop the service again, but you can do that with Start > Programs > Postgres > Stop Service.

By the way, is there some setting in PT3 to prevent it from starting local postgres (I store databases on a network server)?
I know I can disable the psql service completely, but I'd prefer to leave it on "Manual", if possible.
