pt unable to connect to any postgresql database

after running PT3 with no problem for a solid year, this error message comes up this morning.

It loads but wont connect.... "unable to connect to database: PT3 database"

What version of PT3 are you running? If you're not running Beta 29.1, please upgrade, as that has some added error handling for this sort of situation.

should install the beta version and go with this?

Yes, I would recommend upgrading to the latest beta. It should offer you new options when you start PT3 that should let you connect to your databases.

i can't just upgrade to beta from my version right? Ill need to download the full beta version- correct?

No, all you need to do is download the Beta Upgrade version while PT3 is closed and install it.

For what it's worth I've been having the same problems, though I've only had PT for a couple of months. I've yet to send a support ticket (working on that now) but I'd been in contact with Kraada earlier. As a curiosity I downloaded a HEM trial to see whether the connection problem was with PT or PostgreSQL itself, as run on my machine. It appears to be the latter.
