huge files with same time stamp, all needed?

huge files with same time stamp, all needed?

sorry for my question, but i have no idea about databases,
i have 8 huge files named differently like 40096, 40117 etc in the data/base/16438 folder, 7 with the same time stamp, what's that all about, and do i need all of them?

Do NOT delete any files in the postgres folders - they ARE you database.

The only files you can safely delete are the log files in the 'pg_log' folder.
