Unable to Connect to PostgreSQL Database

I downloaded PT3 a few weeks ago and I have the latest version. Everything has been working fine until this morning when I was unable to connect to PostgreSQL database. I had been running version 8.2 of postgreSQL, which I think was leftover from when I was using it with PT2. I went through all the steps to uninstall then reinstall postreSQL 8.3.5 per the instruction on this site. That went smoothly, but when I checked in task manager, postgreSQL did not appear to be running. So I went to Start----Programs------PostgreSQL-------Start Service. A small window popped up and said it was starting service. After several minutes this window closed, but still no indication in task manager that sQL was running.

Now when I open PT3 a small window is popping up with the heading "Configure PostgreSQL Database. All the fields are filled in except for password. I tried various passwords (postgres, dbpass, etc.,) and then clicked create, but then i get a "Unable to create PostgreSQL database:" message.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do now. :(

Is this the guide you followed?
How to reinstall Postgres

Are you using Vista?
Did you VDisable 'User Account Control' (UAC)?

If you followed the guide carefully and it still won't work you can schedule a remote assistance session where someone can logon to your computer with you and directly troubleshoot/resolve the issue..

Yes, that is the guide I followed. I am using Vista and I did disable User Account Control. I will go ahead and schedule a remote assistance session. Thanks.
