Cannot run PostgreSQL on Mac OS

Installation of PT3 and PostgreSQL v 8.4 runs smoothly, when i try to open PT3, i get prompted to configure the postgreSQL server.

Server: Local Host Database User: postgres
Port: 5432 Password: dbpass

When i click connect i get the error "Unable to connect, please check the configuration"

I have tried visiting postgre.org and installing the newest version, and tried reinstalling everything once over.. i have a feeling because i'm following help guides designed for Vista or other Windows OS that it's messing me up.

Anyone able to help me solve this problem?

Have you rebooted after installing? Sometimes that can be necessary in order to initialize PostgreSQL properly on the Mac.

Please report your problem so that we can investigate - we do seem to have a few users with HUD problems and our development team are looking into it but the more information we have the better.
