Unable to create PostgeS Database

Postby kingcodyak » Mon Jan 11, 2010 4:38 am

The problem I am having is that when i restart or power down and then power my comp back up after the initial installation of pokertracker, postgres says that it cannot connect to a database. If i uninstall all the components and open without restarting the program works just fine. The error message I am getting reads:
Unable to create PostgreSQL database: PT3_2010_01_11_023336
Reason: Unable to login to database (template1). Reason: server closed the connection unexpectedly This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request.

I have read some other posts about people having some problems with this as well. If someone is able to help me and requests that I fill out some sort of ticket or form, could you please include instructions in your post about how I go about doing this and what information I should include. Thanks for any help

I meant to include that after I uninstall both postgres and pokertracker, I am able to reinstall both and they work fine as long as I do not restart or power down my computer. If i do either of these the included error message comes up.

Have you tried rebooting again after you get that message?
Sometimes that can solve it.

This sort of thing is often caused by an overzealous firewall so please read our Firewall Guide.

If you still have problems please read the Tutorial: Submitting a Bug Report - attach the last few postgres log files and open Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer and see if there are any postgres related errors.
