Try to turn on Postgre, "Server doesn't listen"

I am on a Mac, fwiw.

I am trying to turn on PostgreSQL through pgAdmin III, since when I try to connect through the "Configure PostgreSQL Server" when starting PT3, it says "Unable to Connect to this database. Please check the configuration".

So, connecting to a server on pgAdminIII, this is what it says:

Server doesn't listen
The server doesn't accept connections: the connection library reports
could not connect to server: Connection refused Is the server running on host "127.0.0.1" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

What happens if you try to run "Start Service" under your Applications/PostgreSQL folder?

It seems to turn on (no message or anything comes up when I click it), but the same error message still comes up when I try to start PT.
