Incorrect Positions

Postby keepon » Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:05 am

Hello,

I have recently noticed while going through some 6-handed hand histories that sometimes there is a position = 5. I checked several hands and their preceding hands step by step and finally realized this happens when there were 5 players in the previous hand, and in the next hand a new player posts in the cutoff position = 1. What then happens is Poker Tracker assigns the player on the button position = 5, the poster's position = 0, next player = 1, next player = 2, BB = 8, SB = 9. I am wondering why this happens and if there is a fix. Also, for my purposes I can just assign the player's the correct positions by doing: 5 -> 0, and adding 1 to the other positions outside the blinds; but I am curious what happens if the player posts UTG or UTG+1 as I just checked quickly and didn't find any where this is the case. Also, does this problem extend in the same way to hands with 5/7/8/etc. players in them? And will it make the mistake consistently (i.e. for 7 handed will it assign the button to position = 6)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is the first time I've ever heard about this particular problem.

Please report it with some hand histories that cause the problem to occur so that we can track down its initial cause (and figure out its extent) and get that fixed for you.
