cant create database

cant create database

reason: unable to login to datebase(template1).Reason:could not connect to server. No such file or directory is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.pgsql.5432"?



This message keeps coming up when i try to create pstgresql database...
