Database Back-up and Transfer

I have PT installed on my desktop and laptop. If I create a database back-up file from my laptop, why can't I install that on my desktop so both versions are looking at the same data? I tried doing the back up and using the "restore" feature to bring in the new data, but it doesn't work. I guess that begs the question, how do you use a back-up file to restore a corrupted db?

That should be working fine - take a look at the Tutorial: Backup and Restore - where are you having trouble?

That worked like a charm. I was trying to do it from the Database menu and kept saying "file not found". When I used the File/Resort menu all was good.

Thanks,

Todd

Did PGAdmin give you an error when trying to restore? If so, what did the error say?

Large databases can take quite a while - if you look in Task Manager is CPU still being used?

PG_restore.exe is taking like 2 cpu randomly. Doesnt seem like anything else is taking up much cpu.

There are 3 pg_restores running in the task manager

I have had this running for over 10 hours now and i am not sure if its working. I also tried to imoprt the hands that i played tody about 5khands and that ook over 2 hours to vaccum and cluster. Isnt that unsual since there is only 5k hands in my database.

Can i restore the database throuhg PGadmin and stil have pt3 open?
