uninstall SQL

Postby lefty100 » Thu Jan 20, 2011 5:15 pm

SQL didn't install completely. It was a real pain working with SQL and it's difficult, user-ugly interface. I'm trying to get my money back from Poker Tracker but they don't respond. I would at least like to uninstall SQL and Poker Tracker. How can I at least uninstall SQL. I find no documentation in the files on my computer. I didn't buy Poker Tracker/SQL to create research problems for myself. I just wanted to try it. I should never have paid up front. Pls Help. Thanks.

We have a full uninstall/reinstall guide for PostgreSQL on our documentation page. If you have a support ticket and have not gotten a response, please let me know your ticket number and I will look it up and see what is going on there for you.

For background:
OS 10.6 (mac). I downloaded the trial in the fall and enjoyed using it during that period. A few weeks after it expired I decided to register the full version. When I did, I tried importing all my hands and although all the HH files were moved to the process folder, they weren't reflected within PT. I tried a few things to fix this, eventually I decided to save all the HHs and completely uninstall PT3/Postgresql and reinstall. Since the PT documentation only gives instructions for Windows, I did some googling and did the following:

sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.edb.launchd.postgresql-8.4.plist
sudo rm -f /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.edb.launchd.postgresql-8.4.plist
sudo rm -rf /Applications/PostgreSQL 8.4
sudo rm -rf /etc/postgres-reg.ini
sudo rm -rf /Library/StartupItems/postgresql-8.4
sudo rm -rf /Library/PostgreSQL/8.4
sudo dscl . delete /users/postgres

Now when I reinstall PT3, it doesn't mention installing Postgresql. However when I start up PT3, it asks for the postgresql database and the previous two I had are shaded out, and the version number in the top corner is something like 0.0.0.

I really don't know what to do at this point. I'd love to get it working or get a refund, however none of my emails get a response so here I am...

We don't have e-mail support you'd need to use the support system.

But regardless, if you download and install the latest PostgreSQL 8.4 version from the PostgreSQL website manually (there should only be one OS X installer there for the latest 8.4 version), everything should then begin working properly.
