Hello all,

I've come to a very frustrating stand still with the PostgreSQL install. I get to the same point every time in the install where
I tried to install it gets frozen in the install while trying to start services. Says "PostgreSQL database server 8.3 [pgsql]-8.3 failed to start verify if have privileges.

i use windows 7

i disabled UAC (pretty sure slid the bar down)

i disabled firewall

i turned off windows defender

I also did the winsock thing as well.

Click Start, type Event Viewer and click on it when it appears. Go into the Applications section in the top left and look for errors relating to PostgreSQL. Do you see any? If so, double click them and tell me what the error text is.

That does indicate that the issue is with Windows - which winsock directions did you follow? Normally that fixes these errors.

*note* just tried it again with doing the winsock and restart with no luck

Follow the Rest TCP/IP Stack directions linked at the very bottom of that article too that may do it.
