Internal Backup and Restore

Postby Indian_Skimmer » Fri Nov 11, 2011 8:54 pm

New to PT3 and need to backup my new database fairly soon.

I'm using PostgresSQL 9 on my machine and am wondering if the built in Backup/Restore feature will run with SQL 9 or is it only compatible with SQL 8.4??

Dont want to take any risks. If the built in wizard doesnt work with SQL 9 I guess I can backup and restore through PGAdmin,is that correct??

Thanks

The built-in backup/restore mechanism works with 9.0 as well.

You can always test by restoring your backup, and then deleting the restored database again. If you restore a database with the same name as an existing one (which you obviously would be doing) the restore will offer you the chance to rename the restored database.
