PT2 backup files into PT3

Postby obsidian » Fri Apr 25, 2008 10:28 pm

I am reformatting and am looking to move over to PT3. I have backed up my PT2 database to .backup files. I am wondering after formatting if I can recover from these files in PT3 or if I'll need to recover in PT2 and then transfer the new database to PT3.

it is possible to extract the hand histories from a PT2 *.backup file without using PT2, but it is not trivial - lots of command-line postgresql messing about :)

Unless you are happy doing command line SQL stuff, it will be your best option to install PT2, restore the database, export the hand histories then import these hand histories to PT3.

Thanks, hopefully importing 850k hand histories won't take long
