tried to delete database - can't configure new one

I deleted all of my poker software after black friday. I recently got back into playing and was able to reinstall pt3. when I click to start, I get the "configure postgresql server" message with only 4 fields: server, port, database user, and password. When I click "connect", I get an "unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration". I thought I had completely deleted my old database and software, but apparently not. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

You probably have a partially deleted PostgreSQL installation, and in that case PT3 won't reinstall it for you. You can fully uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL by following the guide in the Documentation.

If you don't have any existing databases that you want to keep then I'd suggest installing PostgreSQL v9.0 when you reinstall. This has a 64-bit version if you have 64-bit Windows, and has general performance improvements over 8.x versions. 9.1 is still pretty new and we can't yet be sure there aren't any issues with it so we do not yet recommend it.

I tried doing everything you said, and now when I go to create the db with PT3, I get an error message:
"Unable to create PostgreSQL databrase: PT3 DB
Reason: Unable to execute query: ; Reason: Empty Query ()"

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Please reboot and then re-run the PT3 installer to make sure that all of the files are in place and up to date.
If you still see the same thing please report your problem - your log files should give us an idea what is wrong.
