How many postgres services running?

After booting my PC there are 4 postgres.exe services running (visible in the task manager).
After starting PT3 10 of them are running, 4 of them under the user postgres.
Is this normal? I think its slowing down things on my PC even if they are shown most of the time with 0% CPU usage.
I have newly installed posgresql 8.3 after comletely uninstalling version 8.2.

this is normal. 4 on boot suggests only one postgres service is running.
