"Configure PostgreSQL Server" problem.

Postby JW Booth » Wed Jun 18, 2008 8:14 pm

Just dowloaded PT 3 beta 13 WITHOUT Postgre SQL, as I've previously installed it.

The first thing I get is the "Configure PostgreSQL Server".

"Password" is blank. The other items are filled in.

I insert the password I selected when I initially downloaded Postgre SQL.

I then click "Connect", and INSTANTLY get "Unable to Connect", with "Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration."

Have no idea what this means or what to do.

The "Configure..." window has 3 items already filled in. They are:

"Server": localhost
"Port": 5432
"Database User": Postgres

What should I do?

PS - Just checked my "Windows Task Manager".
It shows 4 listings of "postgres.exe" using different amounts of memory, none of them using CPU.

try editing Edit pg_hba.conf and change IPv4 local connections changing md5 to trust

also,it's normal to have multiple postgres processes running...

Do you have any "postgres" processes running if you press CTRL+ALT+DEL and check the task manager -> processes tab? By default the settings box should say:

server: localhost
port: 5432
user: postgres
pass: dbpass

Also try going Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> Stop Server and then Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> Start Server. Do you get the exact same error message as the OP? Also, I'd like to recommend upgrading to PokerTracker 3 Beta 13 from our Download Page.
