PT3 beta 15 db corruption

Postby richl4200 » Mon Jul 21, 2008 4:08 am

I installed the new beta 15 today and as soon as I open the file I get a message saying:

postgres.exe corrupt file
The file or directory C:/programfiles/postgresql/8.3/data/base/27620/44651
is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the chkdisk utility.

The update continued to install however as the message continued to popup in my taskbar.
When it was done i clustered, vaccumed, and analyzed.

Then I went to import some hands and the message kept popping up and I was getting import errors

unable to import hand reason: unable to execute query: copy holdem_hand_player_detail FROM STDIN;; Fatal Error....

I was not getting this problem until I double clicked on the beta 15 update file, any idea what is going on here?

I still have my entire database on pt2 in tact. I'm not sure however if pt2 and pt3 are sharing the same postsqrl database, although I am getting no errors when I run PT2 as of yet. My database in PT3 is still showing what I have had in there before the upgrade, but it doesn't seem to want to import any new hands. So I suppose if i needed to I could export my database from PT2 as backup, if you think I need to reinstall postgresql.

how many versions of postgres have you got installed?

for now,try backing off what databases you have:

pg_dumpall -U postgres > c:\pgbackup from the postgres bin folder

if you have multiple versions, do this for each of them, changing the backup filename in each case...

p.s. try the chkdsk as recommended by the prompt as well...

I only have one version of postgres, version 8.3. However I believe I may have 2 seperate databases for PT2 and PT3.
Ill do what you have suggested and get back to you later in the day to see how it goes
thanks,
