That prompt comes from Vista, not PT so if Vista is not prompting you then it's not running as administrator. So it sounds like you need to change the properties of the icon as detailed at the top of the download page so that it starts as admin when you double-click on it.

If you get prompted by Vista to allow PT to run, does it still tell you then that ptrack.mdb was not found?

Also, when you say this:
yes. there is a ptrack, ptrack2, and ptrack3 backup files

Do you mean all of these file names have "_backup" in the file name?? I need to know exact file names so please tell me if it says ptrack or ptrack_backup as the file name.

Yes I have all these file names and these file names ptrack.mdb, ptrack2.mdb, ptrack3.mdb and these files also have another file with _backup.mdb. I also have ptrack2.ldb and ptrack3.ldb files as well. Now I just opened it w/o administrator and it opened and had my old data. When I set it up as admin I can't open anything. The ace hud still isn't working though and it is being run as admin. Just to clarify I have registered and am not running the trial version. The error message that comes up is the same one that comes up with acehud. It concerns programfiles\pokertrackerv2\ptrack.mdb. When I go to that file itself it says it can't be opened without knowing what program it can use to open itself. Or it can do a search to find something. I think this is the gist of the problem.

That file is an Access db file so if you don't have that program on your computer then you won't be able to open it outside of PT.

The reason it works when you don't run as admin is because then it's looking at the file in the compatibility files folder.

Close PT.

Open Windows Explorer and enable file extensions to show. To do this on Vista, see here
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1269/vis ... extensions

Now, in the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder - rename the file called ptrack.mdb to ptrack_old.mdb
Then go to the Compatibility Files folder and copy the ptrack.mdb file that is there to the "real" c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder.

Now, open PT USING RUN AS ADMIN. Vista should prompt you.

Does it still give the error now about the file name not found?

Thank you so much. It seems to be working just fine and the ace hud is too. Thank you for your time and advice.
