There should be a spot, on the front page of the webiste, with the different poker websites details: For example FULL TILT, POKERSTARS, ULTIMATE BET excetera, and you should be able to on the website in question and find ONE NOTE, NOT A THREAD, that shows current issues and suggested fixes as noted by the PokerTracker staff. No one wants to read through a thread, it's inefficient.

Support has still not been able to link my PAH purchase so I don't get that discount, so I'm looking at paying about $25 dollars more for PT3 of Holdem Manager. Is there a reason I should do this? I have used your software for 5 years, but am feeling pretty neglected and left in the dark. What would you suggest I do?

Maybe you are misunderstanding this. Both in this thread and in the PAH support thread it has been stated that maybe we should get PT3. Now I didn't say this. It was stated by support. Now it's been x number of days since this occured, with very little progress on repairing it. Not saying no one is working on it. On the contrary. My concern is it can't be fixed. The more time spent without success lends toward this being the case. There was a reason that PT3 is considered a total different software. If the platform is wrong, they may be fighting a losing battle. Now, playing without hud when your used to it is not +EV. So a decision needs to be made very soon. Now I had asked Pat what my discount for an upgrade would be, for which he provided me with the correct link. Now I had trouble because my purchase of PAH was not linked to my account. After a few attempts it locks you out from trying to link it yourself and tells you to contact support, which I did. I was asked to send everything I could because they couldn't find it. I forwarded the original email I got from them when I purchased PAH. I have not received a response. I sent again and have still not received a response. So I am sitting here in limbo. My choices are to purchase PT3 for $79, purchase holdem manager for $50, or wait for pt2 and PAH to be fixed. I am simply asking for information so I can make an informed decision. I am not trying to be offensive or demand anything. It's just that I have always seen Pat as a very honest person and wanted his honest opinion as to which way I should go.

There is no grateful to it. It's either $50 or at most $79 and some time to fix. I just need to know which. I could say that it's Pat that should be grateful for a customer like me who is loyal enough to hate to jump ship, and is only asking for a legitimate reason to pay $29 more to stick with him.

If anyone is getting this error with ring games too, can you confirm that it happens shortly AFTER you leave a particular table?

I play only ring games and it has nothing to do with leaving a table as far as I can tell.

Tried the debug3 exe, but it also fails at some point. Last line in log is: "Before FromUnicode function ...". How about some debug output inside the FromUnicode function?

Pat, could it be that the error has nothing to do with FT doing something weird with the HH files? After all, some people here mentioned that PT crashed without FT being open after all. Maybe the error results from some stupid side-effect from hacking in the unicode conversion? Have these functions been part of PT before? Are they in use for importing other sites? Just thinking...

I do have debugging lines before and after the FromUnicode call. So that fact that this is the last line means that it had to have failed on that call because it never gets to the "After FromUnicode" call. This FromUnicode function is a function of the software I used to write PT2, I've used it before in the PokerStars import/export notes function and it's never been a problem there. All this FromUnicode function does is converts a Unicode blob to a ANSI text string. It's already read the file at the point it gives the error so the Access Violation error is puzzling because it's not reading the file again at that point.

I just got back so I'm going to look through the files I got from some people. Unfortunately, I am able to import some of the DUMMY files without error so I'm wondering if the uploading of the file has caused it to lose something in the formatting. I may ask people to ZIP the file and upload them to try to prevent anything from happening to the file during the upload.

Can you not tell from all of the debugging EXE's I've asked people to run that I'm still working on it? Where have I said that I considered it fixed? I don't see how you feel neglected when I have been going back and forth with people here, 15 pages worth of dialog in this thread alone, trying to figure out a way around the problem. NOBODY is more frustrated about this than me. I got out of PT because I was so burnt out by all this stuff that it was literally making me sick and now I'm back here at 11:30PM on a Saturday evening spending hours trying to fix something that I can't reproduce because a site decides to change the way they store hand histories.

OK, one bit of "progress" to report. I do have a file that I am able to reproduce the Access Violation error with. So now I just need to figure out why.

PLEASE DON'T SEND ME ANYMORE FILES - If I need more, I'll post another request later.

OK, I think, keeping my fingers crossed, that I have been able to fix this issue. I was able to finally reproduce this problem but I had to be running the EXE to do so, it didn't fail on me in development mode. So, with the old "C" patch, I was able to consistently reproduce the access violation error (thanks to all that sent me files!!). With this "D" patch, it worked OK so I'm hoping you all will have the same success with it, if it doesn't, I'll just go jump off a building.

Install this new patch, v2.17.04D...

Let me know your results.

First of all: Pat, I want to thank you for your support - great job!

I think, it is NOT a problem of a specific input file. I cannot reproduce the error with the dummy-file, which I send to you. If I try to import only this file (or the original file of this SnG), it works without the access violation error. But if I try to import my 202 import files, the access violation error happens - but every time it stops with a different import file.
Sorry, it seems to be the worst thing: a not easy reproducable error.

There is some work to do, sorry!
