"Insufficient memory" error when importing large hh txt file

Hi!

The import feature allows to select only about 25 txt files at once and I have tons of them, so I merge them all in 1 file. The size of this file is around 200 megs and when I try to import this file, PT spends like 2 hours importing and then the "Insufficient memory" error pops up. What do I do? What is the recommended size of a .txt file? I use win vista, 1.5 GB RAM, 2.1 Ghz Core 2 Duo.

Thank you

Use the "auto import hand histories -> Generic Setup" option on the File menu to import the folder containing the original files (make sure your big 'merge' file isn't in that folder).

How long does it take PT2 to import, say, 1000 txt files?

It depends how many hands are in them. If you have more than 300-500 hands in any single file you should use the Utilities > File Splitter window to split the file into smaller files. PT should be able to import 30,000 hands/hour and you should make sure the "Auto-rate on import" box is UNCHECKED when you do this. You can do the batch auto-rate later if need be.
